A mural of Messi in Kazan to face the image of Ronaldo
A group of artists worked in Kazan throughout the night to paint a painting of the Argentine Lionel Messi to be the face of the image of Cristiano Ronaldo in the building opposite to avoid provoking controversy in the city hosting the matches of the World Cup in Russia.

Ronaldo’s picture was painted in a three-storey building behind the Ramada Hotel to welcome the world’s best player five times when Portugal took part in the 2017 Confederations Cup.
The city authorities faced an embarrassing situation as Argentina headed for the same hotel in preparation for France’s 16-game clash on Saturday, which means Messi may see Ronaldo’s picture from his room.
To avoid controversy and speculation about the bias in the ongoing conflict between the two for the title of the world’s best player, the city has commissioned artists to paint another picture of Macy the world’s best player five times as well.
Fans outside the hotel are already gathering hours before Messi and his team arrive.
