Alec Baldwin is detained after a battle on a car parking space
US actor Alec Baldwin was arrested on Friday and charged with physical assault after allegedly beating a man in the face during a dispute over a parking space outside his house in New York City, authorities said.
The police said the actor claimed that he had a family member who reserved his waiting place, while trying to stop his Cadillac Escalade at around 1 p.m. in the afternoon. When a man rushed to drive a black SAP saloon and parked his car in the same place.
Police said the two men argued and pushed each other before Baldwin (60 years old) became more aggressive.
The driver of the saloon told the police that Baldwin hit him with his hand, but he was not sure whether it was a punch or a slap.
Police said the 49-year-old driver was taken to hospital, suffering from jaw pain and redness in the neck area.
Baldwin was released from a nearby police station in the Greenwich district of Manhattan, about two hours after the accident.
