President of Mexico declares bankruptcy of his country
Mexican President-elect Andres Obrador announced the bankruptcy of the country.
“It is possible that due to the bankruptcy situation in the country, we will not be able to meet all that the country is asking for, but it is clear that yes, we will be able to fulfill all that was promised during the campaign,” the Mexican president said during a meeting with his supporters in the state of Nayarit. .
Obrador spoke in early September differently, saying he understood the problems in the economy, but pointed to macroeconomic stability and the absence of a political crisis.
During his election campaign, the future president, who will take office on Dec. 1, promised to increase social spending on pensions and youth, cut spending on officials, carefully analyze progress in energy reform and contracts, and ensure that gasoline and electricity prices are not raised.
