The disappearance of the Chinese star Fan Bingbing
China’s tax authorities imposed a fine of more than 479 million yuan ($ 69.74 million) on tax evasion of China’s most famous film star, Fan Bingbing, raising questions about her fate, the official Xinhua news agency reported on Wednesday.
Van, who appeared in the film “X men” and “Ironman”, followed by more than 62 million people on the Internet in China, ordered the refund of more than 255 million yuan in taxes.
Van was out of sight in June amid news that she was under investigation in a tax evasion from the film industry.
Her disappearance has raised speculation in China about her fate, including reports of her detention.
Reuters was unable to contact Van or her agent during the investigation.
The tax office in Jiangsu Province handed over its decisions to Van on Sunday, Xinhua said.
There was no immediate comment from the Chinese actress or one of her representatives.
