The football star Bonaventure Kalou is breaking into politics

The transition from sport to politics seems to have been paved in the black continent for the retired stars, after the election of George Weah President of Liberia, the international Ivorian and former player of Paris Saint-Germain, Bonaventure Kalou, has declared himself a star in politics.

Bonaventure Kalou, the eldest brother of the Ivory Coast and Hertha Berlin of Germany player, Salmon Kalou , was elected mayor of Vavoua in the center of the country.

Bonaventure said that he wanted to run for the October 13th municipal and regional elections, to follow the example of his late father, who was promise himself to be a candidate for the city mayor’s election.

The former French player of Paris Saint-Germain confirmed that his priority after winning the election would be to “seek funding and redouble efforts in the field of safety.”

“many believe that The players only fit to kick the ball, I wanted to change this idea, and I assure that the football player can be political and educated.”

Bonaventure thanked his constituents in Vavoua via his Facebook page saying, “Thanks to the Vavoua people, thanks to my team, we have succeeded in achieving something great. True democracy is neither an insult nor a stab, not even less intimidating, but a sovereign choice for the people. ”

Bonaventure, whom is 40 years old, defended the colors of his country’s team led by Didier Drogba, especially in the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany.

The former Ivorian international player, was a player of the Rotterdam, Paris Saint-Germain and Hertha Berlin clubs.
