School opens for one student

A school in a Serbian village has opened its doors to a single pupil, where only the student is studying. It reopens in the village of Dukat in the town of Gadzin Han in southeastern Serbia, seven years after it was closed for lack of students.

Nikolina Nikolig, the only student at the school, the village school offers the possibility of learning up to fourth grade, and this year’s bell rang for the 7-year-old pupil, Nicolina, and her teacher, Melika Megej, said she was doing her best not to feel lonely.
